Unveiling Goreworm's Miasmic Solitude: A Technical Death Metal Journey (2026)

Goreworm's 'Miasmic Solitude' is a technical death metal album that showcases the band's evolution since their debut 'Prodigy of the Grotesque'. The album features a new lineup with guitarists Jordan Estrela and Brent Moerschfelder, session drummer Robin Stone, and vocalist Robert Miller. The album's sound is a mix of burly riffs, head-spinning velocity, and occasional neoclassical color, reminiscent of The Black Dahlia Murder, Vale of Pnath, and Abysmal Dawn. While the album showcases the band's technical prowess, it falls short of the promise of its performances due to mixed production and songwriting that doesn't sharpen the hooks enough to reel in the listener. The album is a qualified neck-wrecker, but it doesn't feel compelling enough to revisit after the music fades. Overall, the album exhibits a myriad of traits that I love to hear in technical death metal, but it needs a more well-rounded production and carefully honed compositions to truly annihilate expectations.
